Strip it, sand it, and paint it.
It came looking slightly sorry with a jacket of white emulsion paint that did not allow for the intrcacy of the bobbin turned wood that is characteristic style of the victorian era of furniture making.
If ever in doubt about what to do with a well made piece of furniture that has a timeless characteristic, a simple mantra to follow is to Strip it , Sand it and Paint it. This has been done sine time immemorial but some smarty pants designer and marketing team in the 90’s decided to reinvent the word second hand and started marketing a style known as shabby chic… what pretencious nonesense….
