Prints of the image are finely cut with a scalpel, mounted onto stiff backing card, and layered together using foam board to (invisibly) separate the layers until the maximum 3-dimensional effect is achieved. At first sight, a pretty flat-looking image—until a closer look reveals a continuing depth of detail.
